Wes Bayliss is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose voice has long echoed with the weight of Southern tradition and the conviction of lived experience. Born and raised in Woodland, Alabama - a town of fewer than 200 people - Bayliss was cushioned by a tight-knit family of guitar pickers and spiritual singers who laid the foundation for his musical life. By the time most kids were learning multiplication tables, he was packed into a tour bus, traveling from state to state, performing at churches, camp meetings and gospel music festivals with the family band.

“My grandfather and uncle were my biggest influences growing up and both of them could play most anything they picked up, so that was handed down to me at an early age,” Bayliss recalls. “I’m so thankful for my upbringing and their obedience to what the Bible says about raising children in the nurturing admonition of the Lord.” Homeschooled, road schooled and even schooled on the job sites of the family construction business, he was regularly handed new instruments, tools and life lessons - which shaped him into the versatile musician and writer he is today.
As the frontman of The Steel Woods, Bayliss rose to national prominence. The band stood out from the crowded Nashville scene with a sound that was equal parts wistful and wild - blending old-school country, bluesy grit, and modern edge. Over the course of four acclaimed studio albums—Straw in the Wind (2017), Old News (2019), All of Your Stones (2021), and On Your Time (2023) - Bayliss helped build a loyal, grassroots fanbase that connected deeply with the band's authenticity and fire.

Now stepping into a new chapter, Bayliss is pursuing a solo path rooted not just in sound but in scriptural truth. His latest work marks a bold and unapologetic return to his gospel roots, guided by the Bible as the backbone of every lyric and message. No longer concerned with broad appeal, Bayliss is instead driven by conviction and the leadership of the Holy Spirit - offering music that’s soaked in faith and wholly committed to the Truth.
